UF rises to No. 8 in U.S. News list of best public universities

The University of Florida has strengthened its ranking among the nation’s top-10 public universities, rising to the No. 8 spot in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list released today.

UF remains the most highly ranked school in Florida and the only university in the state in the top 10. UF was tied for the No. 9 spot last year with the University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, San Diego.

The 2019 list reads as follows:

1 – University of California, Los Angeles

2 – University of California, Berkeley

3 – University of Virginia

4 – University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

5 – University of California, Santa Barbara *

5 – University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill *

7 – University of California, Irvine

8 – University of Florida *

8 – Georgia Institute of Technology *

10 – College of William & Mary *

10 – University of California, Davis *
